Blog post 3

Civility and Inequality are some of the biggest problem in our society. Many people say the world would be such a better place if we could all just get along and treat others with respect. In which I totally agree so it is interesting to read this weeks content because it gives me background to why this "simple task" can be so hard to deal with in the world in which we live. You see we have these mixed thoughts of why we can't get along with each other but we don't always understand why we don't. I believe that it is a difference in culture and even geography. We also live in a dated world in terms of equality between man and women which I believe is completely disgusting.

My favorite reading for this week was by Chávez, it dug deep into the problems that we face. Not only did it explain different forms of inequality but went into depth about why these problems we face exist. Chávez states "social movements that use persuasion and direct action have historically been the greatest resource for seeking justice and inequality." (Chávez, 3) I think this is powerful because a lot of times we don't see things as issues until people start standing up for them and protesting. We shouldn't start supporting things as soon as we see others protesting them, we should embed these thoughts into the ethics of the youth for a brighter future.

There's no better example that I could use than feminism. I find it hard to believe that in our country's history we have never had a female president. Why do so many people see this as a man's job? We must not let history repeat itself forever because as long as women can be doctors, pilots, scientists and astronauts why are they never in the legitimate talk about being able to run our country? Women are just as intelligent and powerful as men and I think it is something that we need to express more in all types of work and industry. I know that it has been getting better but better is not good enough in my opinion. I'll stand side by side and fight for the equality of all people no matter the gender that they associate themselves as.
